Adult Co-ed Recreational Basketball

Men and Women’s Recreational Basketball

Come join us for the weekly Sunday night men and women’s recreational basketball games played September 13th through May 29th from 7:30 – 9:30pm in the school gym. Teams are determined based on whoever shows up and by bringing both a white and dark colored tee shirt we can intermix into balanced teams. We call our own fouls and have a mix of 18 thru 50+ year olds. So if you have young legs or run at a slower pace, we welcome you to a night full of exercise.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

This parish conference was founded in 1942 and provides outreach service to our neighbors in need throughout the year. We provide financial aid, inspiration and spiritual support through person-to-person assistance and home visitations.

Our charitable works include maintaining the parish food pantry, visiting shut-ins, conducting clothing and small household item collections, assisting the downtown dining room, maintaining religious materials in the vestibule, making home visits to assess financial needs, and bringing Holy Communion to the homebound.

Our conference meets on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 8am in the Board Room located in the school. We welcome men, women and young adults who think that they are being called to be a part of this ministry.

During the months of October, November and December all funds collected are used to help in the Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets.  Funds are also used by the Mitten Tree committee to purchase gifts.

Thank you for your donation which can be made to the Sharing Bowl located in the vestibule of the church through the slot in the countertop of the pamphlet rack.

Respect Life Committee

The Respect Life Committee raises awareness of the sacredness, dignity and value of all human life from conception until natural death.  We coordinate parish pro-life activities, educate parishioners about pro-life issues as well as keep parishioners informed about current legislation affecting life issues.

Join us on the first Sunday of October for the National Life Chain along Niagara Falls Boulevard from 2:00-3:00pm. Our parish meets at Ford Avenue and signs are available on location.

The Rosary Novena for Life is held on the last Saturdays of the month between March and November at St. Rose of Lima Parish at Parker and Parkside Avenues.  Mass begins at 8:00am and is followed by a silent and prayerful procession to the local abortion clinic to pray the rosary for an end to abortion.

We welcome all parishioners who wish to join us as well as any who would just like email updates of pro-life issues or events.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Rosary Makers

This group was started by Caesar and Clara Zymanek in 1987.  Today’s active members  made over 2600 rosaries this year which were sent to other parishes such as Holy Cross and world missions.  Over 150 rosaries are given to our parish children for their Baptisms and First Communions.  New members are welcome as well as free will donations.

Gardening Ministry

We keep our faith community grounds looking beautiful by planting pansies in early Spring,  usually on a Saturday morning.  In mid June we remove the pansies and do another planting with geraniums and begonias and in the Fall we clean out the beds.  You are free to weed at any time during the growing season.  The dates for planting are determined by the weather.

Catholic Charities Volunteers

These parish volunteers are active during Lent organizing the annual Catholic Charities drive through the recording of the gifts and telephoning donors. Catholic Charities serves the needs of the people within the Diocese of Buffalo.

Beneath Mary’s Mantle

In 2019 our parish was blessed with the addition of a beautiful statue of Our lady of the Assumption. A prayer garden was planted around the statue as a place where parishioners and villagers could go to spend some peaceful time in reverence to the Blessed Mother. Since then, many people have enjoyed the tranquility of the garden and the opportunity for prayerful meditation.

In 2020, Gina Cutrona initiated a prayer group entitled “Beneath Mary’s Mantle” where participants meet on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 9:30am in the garden to honor Mary, pray the Rosary and other Marian prayers, and to enjoy reflection and fellowship.  This “en plein  air” (outdoors) version of Beneath Mary’s Mantle was started in 2020 as a way to gather despite the pandemic. With Jesus and Mary, all things are possible!

Today, the group still meets in Mary’s Garden regardless of the weather conditions, but will use the Neumann Rooms if necessary.

Bible Study

Faith Formation truly is lifelong and ongoing. Amongst the various forms of  prayer, studying the WORD from the Bible is one of the most powerful ways to develop a relationship with God. Since God is the WORD and Jesus in the WORD made flesh, what better time to reflect on the WORD than at Christmas when the WORD was made flesh in Jesus!

Ss. Peter & Parish is blessed to have a Bible Study group right here on campus!  Led by Joe Butch, the group meets every third Saturday of the month from 9:00am to 10:00am in the Reading Room. The Reading Room is a small, quaint room located in the school building.  The room is clearly marked and is the entrance closest to the church.

Begin the Advent Season with a personal introduction to the WORD of God.  No matter how many times you have read the Bible, or even if you have never read it, God speaks to you through every word.  Take a chance to discover a fresh encounter with our Lord in the presence of a group of dedicated faithful servants!

St. John Neumann Guild

The St John Neumann Guild (previously known as the Ss Peter & Paul Fund Raising Committee) was originally formed in 2020. The original mission of this Committee was to be a source of fundraising for the Parish when our weekly collections were negatively impacted by both declining Mass attendance, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

As time has progressed, our mission has evolved from not only providing much needed Parish fundraising, but to also building a new spirit of fellowship and community right here at SSPP. As our committee likes to now joke, we are here to provide both “fundraising,” and “FUN-raising!” As such, our new mission consists of the following: Building Community among our parishioners, increasing our Community Outreach, enhancing the Spirituality of our Parish through seasonal mini “retreats” & having some Parish fun in accomplishing all of this!

Interested in helping us with our ministry?  Contact Casey Hanley (716–632–2678) or Bob Grinewich (716-208-6129) for answers to your questions.

Men of St. Joseph

The Men of St. Joseph is made up of men of the parish who desire to emulate the virtues and work ethic of St. Joseph by doing charitable deeds and work projects for our parish, school and community, by deepening their Catholic faith, by strengthening their personal prayer life and by developing a personal relationship with Christ.

The men also build strong friendships with the other men of the parish and work on improving their roles as sons, brothers, fathers, husbands, friends and parishioners, Catholic advocates, and community members. All men of the parish are asked to prayerfully consider joining this wonderful group of men desiring to become more like St. Joseph in all aspects of their lives.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry knit and crochet shawls to “wrap in love” those who are ill or suffering—young or old.  Parishioners may select “the perfect shawl” from our collection to present to one needing comfort and prayers.

Participants often find comfort and joy and lessened stress in their own lives through this ministry.  We meet  every 1st Tuesday of the month September– June in the Board Room.  You may join our group to create and pray with others, or you may elect to work and pray in the privacy of your own home. We also accept free-will donations for necessary supplies for our patterns.

Prayer shawls are available FREE of charge in the Parish Office. Please stop in any time during normal business hours if you are in need of one!

Medjugorje Prayer Group

The Medjugorje Prayer Group was founded by Fr. Robert Rezac in about 1985. The group meets every Tuesday in the Board Room from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.  The afternoon begins with a lifting up of the group’s intentions followed by prayers.  The prayers include the Rosary, various other Marian prayers, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

If the Blessed Mother is calling you, please answer the call and join us at the next meeting on Tuesday, August 23rd. Everyone is welcome!

Community Clothing Exchange

SS Peter and Paul Parish established the Community Clothing Exchange in order to bless our parish community and our greater community with free gently-used donated clothing, shoes and accessories. The Community Clothing Exchange is held annually on a Saturday morning in October.  Donations are collected the week prior to the clothing exchange. Volunteers sort the donations and set up the school gym for the exchange on Friday afternoon. On Saturday morning, shoppers are encouraged to take as many items as they can personally use free of charge.  Donations and volunteers are always welcome!

Prayer Line

The Parish Prayer Line is a direct phone line to dedicated prayer partners who listen to your prayer intentions and pray diligently for your prayers to be answered.  God answers ALL prayers in His way, and in His time, but prayer becomes even more powerful when two or more are gathered in His name.

All requests for prayer are strictly confidential and the group offers prayers for all of our parishioners, family members and friends in need of intercessory prayer.  During these challenging times, it may comfort you to reach out to our prayer partners. If you have a need for prayers, call the Prayer Line at  633-3977 from 6am-midnight.

If you ae interested in joining this beautiful ministry, please call the prayer line directly at this same number.

Music Ministry

Music is a powerful force throughout the lives of almost everyone. The music which accompanies and animates our liturgies can also be very powerful. The musicians who provide music for us at SSPP are devoted to the expression of the human and divine feelings of faith, love, hope, grief, joy, etc. Our wonderful cantors are talented and generous singers who hope to help every parishioner find their voice. Our music director, Gail Shepherd, also strives to express the flavor of the liturgical seasons through appropriate hymns and organ selections.

A Children’s Choir from SSPP school rehearses every Tuesday afternoon and serves at the 8:00am Mass every Wednesday morning, as well as occasional Sundays, Christmas and Easter. Several other parishioners sometimes join with our cantors to form a choir for special occasions, and we are hoping to re-establish a regular choir for Sundays. Violinists, flutists and many other instrumentalists have joined us and add an extra texture to our music making.
